July 2013: Boris Modeste Yakoubou organises workshop for religious leaders for conflict prevention

FINAL DECLARATION
On the initiative of Network-Faith-Culture and Education (EGFR), and with the multi-faceted
support program for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA), a Conference /
Workshop capacity of Christian and Muslim religious leaders for conflict prevention and
peace as a prerequisite for development, held in Bangui from 25 to 26 July 2013.
Took part in the conference / workshop, more than 30 participants selected quota equal
between the three denominations (Catholic, Protestant and Muslim).
Considering the change of the political regime occurred on 24 March 2013;
Considering that one of the consequences of this change is the installation of insecurity
throughout the territory;
Considering also that the CAR is under real threat of interreligious conflict with undesirable
consequences for the Central Company;
Considering the need to prevent conflict and restore peace as a prerequisite for
development;
Considering the important role of the leaders of the three (3) denominations (Catholic,
Protestant and Muslim) invited to work together in finding solutions;

Participants will:
1) work together and contribute to the education and training of the faithful of the three (3)
denominations for conflict prevention and peacekeeping;
2)face any initiative that would be to undermine the peaceful coexistence between the
three (3) religious denominations;
3) promote more momentum coexistence and mutual understanding which characterizes
our religious communities in Central African Republic;
4) oppose any form of manipulation of religious confessions for political purposes;
5) denounce in their prophetic role all forms of abuse and injustice aimed at undermining
the dignity of the human person;

Participants call the Central African Republic Political and administrative
authorities:
1) the disarmament and repatriation of foreign combatants and mercenaries;
2) reorganize and deploy the forces of defense and security;
3) preserve the republican principle of secularism and to end all forms of discrimination and
violence.
